Thanks to Rocky and Meydi for their fabulous assistance in being the daring victims! Coconut Octopus Veined Octopus Amphioctopus marginatus Lembeh Strait, Indonesia. There was a bit of excitement around Lembeh this week with one of our guests completing the PADI Rescue and EFR Course. We also had sightings of the Mimic Octopus and the Reef Octopus, along with Flamboyant Cuttlefish and loads of Shrimps, Nudibranchs and Cuttlefish of all types and sizes. The Coconut Octopus wasn’t the only Cephalopod seen this week in Lembeh. The Coconut Octopus likes to dine on Crabs, Shrimps and Clams and is kept busy all day gathering discarded Coconut Shells and Clam Shells for shelter. The Coconut Octopus don’t seem to mind where they hang out in when in Lembeh! They are thus named because of their preference to hide in Coconut shells, but they will take an empty clam shell as their refuge also, just as this guy did!
